BOARD MEETING MINUTES Tuesday, January 11, 2000
Board members met in the GH Library Historical Society room at the Grandview
Heights Library.
President Win Keller called the board meeting to order at 7:00 PM.
MINUTES: Minutes from the November meeting were reviewed and approved.
OLD BUSINESS:
- The current roster was distributed for the 1999-2000 Historical Board and
officers
- Treasurer's Report: The November/December report was presented and approved.
- The historical document check out policy was reviewed
- We were notified that a community member holds the GHMC Senior Center History
collected by Alleyn L. Stout and will at sometime in the future donate the
historical records to the GHMC Historical Society Committee
- Subcommittee reports were given by board members:
- Membership: Paid to present are 45 single & 48 couple memberships for
a total of 141 members. Also there are 11 single life memberships and
12 couples with 2 new life members added in the last month. President
Keller has written thank you letters to life members as they join. The
idea of membership cards was presented and that will be brought up for
discussion at a later time.
- Technology: A meeting was held on Dec. 15, 1999 with library director
to work on a proposal for funding a program to digitize our historical
holdings. Recent web site additions include the Boulevard Presbyterian
Church, updated icons on the map for the walking tour, & slides from the
presentation shown at our 25th anniversary celebration. Skip read a letter
she received from Janet Owers, Cambridge, England, as a response to visiting
our web site.
- Newsletter: The next newsletter copy will be available for next board
meeting. Included in this issue will be the school history conclusion,
Skip's 1995 interview with Marble Cliff Mayor Paul Falco along with a
history of Marble Cliff, and a listing of our life members. Pat suggested
an interview be held with former Quarry resident Mrs. Curtain as well
as long time area resident Ruth Gutches. Skip has volunteered to contact
both women. President Keller is in communication with Tom Waggenbrenner
in order to hold an interview concerning the evolving development of the
Bank Block
- Breezeway: Bill and Win will help Tracy with some of the ongoing maintenance
problems.
- OHIO/2003: The next due date to submit the application for the presentation
of a historical marker is February 2, 2000. She will present the Bank
Block for consideration
- Home Tour 2001: Discussion of possible sites continued
- Liaison Report: Nothing to report.
NEW BUSINESS:
- Education Foundation Gala: The Foundation would like to use a collection
of school related pictures from our archives for the centerpieces. Wayne will
provide images to the printer and Tracy will communicate to the Gala Chairperson
that we would like to be recognized as the source of the pictures. Our web
site will also be made available for the evening of February 5, 2000 on a
computer donated for that purpose by Wayne.
- Yearbooks: President will contact the High School to see about obtaining
a copy of the 1999 Highlander as well as order the 2000 edition. In the future
we will purchase the Highlander each year. We will try to fill in our missing
Highlander years from the school archives.
ADJOURNMENT: The meeting adjourned at 8:30 p.m. The next Board meeting will
be held on Tuesday evening, Feb 1, 2000 at 7:00 p.m at the GH/MCHS Board Room
of the Grandview Library.
