BOARD MEETING MINUTES Tuesday, May 4, 1999
Board members met in the Board meeting room at the Grandview Heights Library.
The meeting was called to order at 7:10 p.m.
Bill Koch was introduced and welcomed as a new board member.
MINUTES: Minutes of April 6, 1999 were approved
OLD BUSINESS:
- Treasurer's report for Jan. 1, 1999 through April, 1999 was presented
- Letter sent to Ken Frick as approved at the last meeting
- Subcommittee reports were given by board members:
- WRITING GH/MC HISTORY -Archival boxes and sleeves for photos and documents
have been purchased.
- TECHNOLOGY - Website continues to expand. However, there is no way to
contact us from the site. Tom DeMaria will have his e-mail address as a
place to communicate with us. More photos have been added. A counter has
been added at no cost. Between Thurs. and Fri., 80 hits and between Fri.
and Tues., 218 hits. It was suggested we ask people to submit current histories
to us in anticipation of future years. No further information on the grant
with the library at this time.
- MEMBERSHIP - Discussion held on how late in the year before we bump membership
fee into next fiscal year. Vote was taken to set the price of $5.00 for
a single membership, $8.00 for a couple and $15.00 for an organization.
- NEWSLETTER - It was unanimously felt to be a professionally, well-written
publication. The importance of working together was emphasized for historical
accuracy and to keep committees functioning to their fullest capacity. Bill
Koch volunteered to request sponsorship money from the Village of Marble
Cliff and Wayne Carlson will present a request to the City of Grandview
Heights. Additional publications of the newsletter will follow the format
of having a discussion of topics to be included and input from committee
chairs.
- OHIO 2003 - Tracy is keeping in touch with state coordinators and reminds
us it is their celebration and we need to be aware of their direction before
making any decisions of our own
- BREEZEWAY: On 4/30 pictures were redone in the display cases. Tracy will
communicate with Tom Wagenbrenner to see where it stands and also look at
the cases.
- HOME TOUR - possible sites were discussed
- Win reported the library is happy to let us use the conference room on
the lower level for our regular board meetings. This will start at the June
1 meeting.
NEW BUSINESS:
- It was suggested we appoint a liaison to the city from our Board. With
newsletter in hand, Wayne will approach the Grandview community affairs council
representative, Bill will go to Marble Cliff, Tom will become a liaison to
the schools and Jo Ann will contact the Chamber of Commerce.
ADJOURNMENT: The meeting adjourned at 9:00 p.m. The next Board meeting will
be held on Tuesday evening, June 1, 1999 at 7:00 p.m at the GH/MCHS Board Room
of the Grandview Library.
