Grandview Heights / Marble Cliff Historical Society
Board of Trustees
BOARD MEETING MINUTES Tuesday, September 7, 1999
Board members met in the Board meeting room at the Grandview Heights Library.
The meeting was called to order at 7:05 p.m.
MINUTES: Minutes from the August meeting were reviewed, corrected and approved.
OLD BUSINESS:
- Treasurer's Report: Revised report for June was presented as well as the
Aug. report.
- Board agreed to help Edison with the cost of restoring their clock, as was
done for Stevenson Elem.
- Subcommittee reports were given by board members:
- Membership: In 98-99 we had 73 paid members. To date we have 10 1999-2000
dues paid.
- Technology: New additions to the website include the Stevenson scrapbook,
our current newsletter and updated membership form, images from the Bank
Block, the Urlin home, and slides from the Fridenstine collection. The
Tarpy and Voelker houses will soon be seen. There have been 2200 hits.
It was suggested we continue looking for sponsors to advertise on the
website and in the newsletter.
- Newsletter: Mailed on Aug. 25. Universal compliments were offered to
Pat & Margie. It was suggested a photo of the original founders be taken
at the Annual Meeting & be printed in the next newsletter.
- Breezeway: An attempt will be made to find an all weather tape that
should secure the pictures.
- OHIO/2003: The Oct. 29th due date will be met by submitting pictures
of the Urlin home and the Poor House. It was a consensus to try for 2
markers understanding funding will be necessary if they are granted. We
will attempt to get owners' approval before the deadline but will proceed
regardless since the markers can be placed on a city easement. Again it
was stressed that both city councils work with us in planning any special
events for 2003.
- Home Tour 2001: A discussion was held of suggestions and hints to get
started
- Liaison Report: Attempts will be made to get on the agenda of both
Councils. Tom has decided to approach the schools through more individual
avenues. There are some teachers receptive to speakers and working with
us on the walking tour developed several years ago.
- Annual meeting: Pat gave an overview of the afternoon plans. Board members
volunteered for various assignments. Discussion of the flyer notifying
members of the meeting was held and Jo Ann will help Pat with the mailing
on this Wed.
NEW BUSINESS:
- Sally will prepare a new board roster for everyone and include e-mail addresses.
Tom DeMaria, Ruthanne James, and Margie Wilson have all agreed to stay on
board for another 3 year term.
ADJOURNMENT: The meeting adjourned at 8:50 p.m. The next Board meeting will
be held on Tuesday evening, Oct 5, 1999 at 7:00 p.m at the GH/MCHS Board Room
of the Grandview Library.
